Opportunity:Gear Up for School Assembly!

Date:08/02/2025 10:00 AM - 08/02/2025 04:30 PM

Agency:Gear Up For School

Gear Up for School (GUFS) is a back-to-school drive that aims to provide 3,275 students in need with more than 90,000 school supplies and backpacks at the start of the academic year. Supplied backpack recipients include children in NH's DHHS Foster Care Program, as well as schools in Manchester, Hooksett, Allenstown, Pembroke, Candia, Nottingham, Fremont, Epping, and Raymond, and additional non-profits (including Veteran Centers) across New Hampshire.

Help on the pencil case & backpack assembly lines by putting supplies into backpacks. Volunteers will also help organize backpacks, keep supplies available, and prepare bag orders. The work requires a moderate activity level, with opportunities for volunteers to assist at the check-in table, which is less physically demanding.

Thank you to our primary Patron for Education, the New Hampshire Statewide Family Engagement Center, and the Norwin S. and Elizabeth N. Bean Foundation for awarding us grant funding.

The setup team will prepare the assembly lines by moving supply boxes (involving some heavy lifting), counting supplies, unboxing and unwrapping the supplies, organizing the assembly lines, and assembling the pencil cases. The work requires a moderate to heavy activity level, with some opportunities for volunteers to assist at the check-in table, which is less physically demanding.
