NH State Veterans Cemetery Memorial Day Beautification

Description

Volunteers will do groundskeeping work to prepare for the Memorial Day Ceremony at the NH State Veterans Cemetery. Work will include raking, spreading mulch, weeding, trimming, planting, cleaning, painting, and other tasks to beautify the cemetery for Memorial Day and the entire summer.  Note: while the NH State Veterans Cemetery is located in Merrimack County, all are welcome to participate in this activity as the NHSVC belongs to everyone on the state of NH.

Volunteer Should Provide
Dress appropriate for the weather. This event will occur rain or shine. Bring sun screen (if necessary) and bug spray (we will have limited supplies). If you have your own garden gloves or rubber gloves, please consider bringing them and using them. We have quite a few pairs of gloves, but it would be great if folks brought their own. If you can bring your own tools such as shovel (both full size and hand-size), sod lifter, garden rakes (again, full or hand-size), weed pullers, any tool that you think will help. Please do NOT bring any weed killer or other chemicals. Kneeling or sitting pad or blanket. Anything you think will help do the job and be safe for all. Please MARK any tools you bring so we can make sure you get them back. Water bottle and/or snacks
Agency Will Provide
The NH Veterans Cemetery Association (www.nhvca.org) has graciously offered to provide lunch and snacks for this event. 9:00 AM:  coffee and light snacks will be available (not substantial, so eat before you arrive) 11:45 AM: Pizza, salad, drinks provided. They will remain out for as long as folks are partaking. Water will also be available throughout the day. (NOTE: Do NOT drink water from the flower watering stations?it is not potable. We do have potable water from drinking fountains in all buildings). We will have at 8 bathrooms available on cemetery grounds.
