Gear Up for School (GUFS) is a back-to-school drive that aims to provide 3,275 students in need with more than 90,000 school supplies and backpacks at the start of the academic year. Supplied backpack recipients include children in NH's DHHS Foster Care Program, as well as schools in Manchester, Hooksett, Allenstown, Pembroke, and additional non-profits (including Veteran Centers) across New Hampshire.
The setup team will prepare the assembly lines by moving supply boxes (involving some heavy lifting), counting supplies, unboxing and unwrapping the supplies, organizing the assembly lines, and assembling the pencil cases. The work requires a moderate-to-heavy activity level, with some opportunities for volunteers to assist at the less physically demanding check-in table.
