Opportunity:

Wetlands Walk & Pollinator Gardens Care

Description

Most tasks are easy including removing leaves around wood posts, moss and lichen from the boardwalk surface, trimming branches there and on the connecting trails, sanding and priming/painting the bumper for the visually impaired, and minor repairs. Also removing invasive weeds from dry and wet areas.  The minor carpentry to replace posts is a bit more challenging and includes removing old posts.  Our wizard of a volunteer, Tom created a step by step guide.  Boots are helpful for removing or girdling invasive plants in the wetland.  There are also two pollinator gardens that need weeding. We will cancel for steady rain, but ok in mist, light drizzle, light intermittent rain, there is a pavilion to rest in.

Community Service Certificates are available.  Just follow the posterboard volunteer signs and Wetlands Walk signs to find us.  When leave pavement, go down the gravel driveway and follow road to the end or near it.  Gunstock prefers that we park in the small disabled lot and on the stream side and do not drive in the campground's field area.
